Schools’ Competition 2023
JOINT WINNERS!
We are delighted to share with you the entry vidoes of our two joint winners of our 2023 Schools’ Sustainability Competition with prizes funded from our Community Benefit fund for this year (in no particular order, because both entries were very deserving).
The Whitby High School (Ellesmere Port)
Video entry: Whitby High School Entry
£657 went to team ‘Eco-Club’ of The Whitby High School in Ellesmere Port who will provide 3 animal-character waste-recycling bins to help get the important recycling message across in a fun and attractive way.
Stephen Savory and Dr Linda Hilton of CCEL were joined by the Lord Mayor of Ellesmere Port Cllr Gareth Gould and his Deputy at the Awards Ceremony, which took place at the school on 14th July 2023.
Eco Club team: Jasmine Haydock, Maksim Dubrovskji, Grace Heaney, Roisin March, Sofia Chapman – supported by their Head of Geography Mrs N. Hughes.
Each student also received a £20 shopping voucher to spend in Chester.
Upton-by-Chester High School (Chester)
£250 was awarded to team ‘Eco-Lution’ of Upton-by-Chester High School in Chester who will provide special timers to manage their air-conditioning units at the school in a more effective way andwill provide engaging posters to communicate the message to save energy.

To celebrate COP27, Chester Community Energy Ltd launched our 2023 SUSTAINABILITY COMPETITION in November 2022 for State-Funded Schools and Six-Form Colleges in Cheshire West and Chester (Secondary Yrs 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13).
