Chester Community Energy Ltd (CCEL) is pleased to announce that its community fund grant for 2021 is £5,000 and is open to voluntary community faith sector (VCFS) organisations within the Chester and surrounding area including West Cheshire. This year VCFS organisations from across the border in Wales can apply if they are within a 6 mile straight line distance from Chester. Organisations in Queensferry, Shotton and Connah’s Quay will be eligible to apply.
The fund is offered for organisations to make their buildings more energy efficient, reduce waste or make use of renewable energy sources. Examples of projects that could be put forward include installing LED lighting, replacing or upgrading inefficient electric appliances or heating system, provision of recycling facilities, reduction in single use plastic, draught proofing/reduction in energy use (e.g. loft insulation/window replacement) or a move to renewable sources of energy such as solar panels. These are just examples of possible projects and are not an exclusive list. Funding could be sought as a contribution towards a larger project.
The closing date for applications is on the 18 December 2020 and only requires a simple application form to be submitted. A panel of 4 of CCEL’s members will then draw up a short list of applicants who will be asked to attend a group interview (or Zoom meeting) in January. The awards are expected to be made in late January or early February 2021.
